Lisa Chang Lee

李昶

Lisa Chang Lee is an artist, curator and artistic director based in London and Beijing.   She was offered an exam-free entry as one of the highest ranking students from the Fine Art School affiliated to Central Academy of Fine Art(CAFA), the most reputable art school in China, to pursue her study at the academy for her Bachelor Degree in fine art(2006-10) She received her Master Degree from the Royal College of Art in England with the highest score in the performance of her degree show in 2014. In 2018, she was endorsed by Arts Council England to receive an Exceptional Talent visa from the British Government.

She is a visiting lecturer at Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing and the Royal College of Art in London; She is also a council member of the Royal Society of Painter-printmakers.

Lee's works span multiple dimensions, using images, performance, interactive installations, and graphic media.  Lisa’s practice focus on the overlapping relationship between time, image, experience and behaviour, explore the core of orientality in diverse artistic practice, explore the relationship between individual and nature, current and historical mobility, and the consideration of artistic language and cultural identity.

Lee has exhibited her work nationally and internationally in recent years including her solo project event Serenade of the Woods at the Rattles Collective London(UK); Solo Exhibition Indeterminate Loop at Ginkgo Space Beijing(China); Unstable Landscape, M100 Contemporary Art Centre(Chile);Her diverse practice was also featured in various international events and exhibitions including the thematic exhibition Collective City in Seoul Biennale 2019(Korea); Moving Image Biennale at the Nunnery Gallery London (2018);Aesthetica Art Prize 2018. York Art Gallery; Ideals On The Move, Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture, Shenzhen, China(2017), etc.  Lee is also one of the panel curators of International Printmaking Triennial at China Academy of Art(CAA). She has curated two exhibitions during the past triennials : Repeat and Spiral, Renke Art Gallery, 2015; Five Trillion Times- Print Future Panel, Museum of CAA, 2018.

She is the winner of Contemporary Arts Trust Prize 2019; Multiple prize winner as an associate member in the Royal Society of Painter-printmakers; her video work Western Dream was recently awarded the Runner-up prize at the artist film section in Seoul Biennale 2019; She was also nominated the Awards of Art China  (AAC) in 2018.Her works are in permanent collections globally including the Royal Collection of the United Kingdom, the British Museum, Ashmolean Museum Oxford, V&A; Metropolitan Museum, etc.
